The Rules of the Game

MATCH RULES & REGULATIONS

1. MATCH DURATION

a. For all matches, match duration will be 20 minutes with no half time interval, including semi-finals and final.

 

2. SQUAD

a. Your squad will consist of no fewer than 6 and no more than 10 members. Cost of entry will be £200 per team. All entry fees to be paid in full by prior to the day. Payment can be made in cash or by bank transfer. Please contact charity6aside@gcis.uk if you wish to pay by transfer.

 

3. PENALTIES

A PENALTY SHALL BE AWARDED WHEN;

  1. The goalkeeper comes out of the area and, at the referees discretion, has gained an advantage in doing so. A defender enters his own area and by doing so gains an advantage.

  2. The penalty taker is allowed no more than two steps before striking the ball.

  3. Penalties shall be taken from the edge of the penalty area. 

 

4. SLIDE TACKLES

a. Slide tackles are forbidden in the tournament. A free kick is rewarded for a slide tackle.

b. The Referees discretion and decision on what constitutes a slide tackle is final in any instance

5. THE GOALKEEPER/THE AREA

a. After a goal is scored, the goalkeeper shall roll the ball out to restart play.

b. The goalkeeper must not leave his area.

c. If a team makes a change of goalkeeper during the match then the referee must be notified before the change is made.

d. The referee shall use his discretion to determine whether a player has entered the area accidentally without gaining an advantage.

e. The goalkeeper may not kick the ball under any circumstances except in the course of making a save.

 

6. BACKPASSES

a. When an outfield player receives the ball from the goalkeeper, the ball MUST be touched by another player before being passed back to the goalkeeper.

 

7. THROW INS / KICK INS / ROLL INS

            a. Due to the nature of the pitches, none of the above are applicable.

 

8. SUBSTITUTES

a. Teams are allowed to make as many substitutions as they wish within the match.

b. Substitutions will be managed by roll on and roll off during the course of normal play and can be made as often as the team wishes.

c. In the case of a goalkeeper being substituted, please make the referee aware who will stop the game at an appropriate point to allow the change to be made.

 

9. THE HEAD-HEIGHT RULE

a. We are not playing the 'no over head height’ rule. 

 

10. FREE KICKS

a. ALL free kicks are INDIRECT.

b. Players must be two yards from the ball for free kicks.

 

11. POINTS

a. The scoring system is 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw.

b. League format will be in place until the knock out phase starts.
